A Community-Driven Approach to Enhancing Eye Health in Indonesia

Indonesia is grappling with a significant public health challenge—37 million individuals are affected by vision impairment, which has seen a 10.9% increase in prevalence since 2010. This critical need positions Indonesia as a focal point for targeted health interventions. The landscape analysis conducted by Tri-Sector Associates, commissioned by The Moh Family Foundation (TMFF), identifies Indonesia as a strategically important location for a vision care initiative, underscored by its high demand for services and a supportive environment.

Building upon its experience in China and the USA, TMFF is committed to broadening its eye health initiatives into Southeast Asia. Through the #MelihatMasaDepan campaign, TMFF would make an immediate impact on Indonesia's eye health sector and generate insights to guide sustainable practices. This campaign addresses urgent health needs and establishes a foundation for ongoing improvement and community empowerment in eye health care throughout the region.

The #MelihatMasaDepan campaign is an initiative by The Moh Family Foundation (TMFF) and Campaign, aimed at improving eye health in Indonesia by supporting local organizations, collecting insights from communities, and promoting public education.

Indonesia is facing a significant challenge, with 37 million people experiencing vision problems, and a 10.9% increase in prevalence since 2010. This shows an urgent need for sustainable eye health interventions.

Local and international organizations that have eye health programs in Indonesia and demonstrate innovative approaches and tangible impacts on communities are eligible to apply for micro-grants without restrictions.

Surveys will be carried out in various regions of Indonesia to gather direct feedback from the public regarding their needs, perceptions, and obstacles in accessing eye health services through Challenges and survey forms that will be provided.

The campaign aims to expand the mapping of organizations, improve access to eye care services, strengthen local organizations, and raise public awareness about the importance of eye health.

People can participate by completing the survey form and/or joining the Challenge through the Campaign for Good app.

The campaign is funded by The Moh Family Foundation (TMFF) in partnership with Campaign as the implementing organization.
